This game was one of the landmarks of Penn State football, as not only was it only the second meeting between the two schools, and the first since 1913, but it was played at Beaver Field itself. And even though the Irish had just come off of a 16 game winning streak and a national championship, the Nittany Lions were able to match them tackle for tackle and punt for punt in one of the more brutal exhibitions of trench warfare ever seen on our hallowed ground.
