This is the ultra-rare cover of the program for the game that never was played. Like nearly all Division I games scheduled for the day after the Kennedy assassination, Notre Dame's bi-annual visit to Iowa City was called off while the nation mourned its martryed president. And since there were no remaining open dates on the calendar, there was no re-scheduling of the game. Nearly all copies of the program itself were quickly destroyed by the Iowa Athletic Department---none were ever sold to the public---and originals are among the scarcest artifacts in college gridiron history
