In 1929 the Skibos were playing against the biggest programs in the country. Their three losses were against mighty Notre Dame (9-0), fearsome Pitt(9-1, losing only to Southern Cal), and herculean Southern Cal (10-2, losing to Notre Dame). And the year before the Techmen had beaten both the Panthers and the Irish. But this year Southern Cal was a bit too much, and the only consolation for the Skibos was that warm California sunshine.
