With a record 76,000 paying customers jamming every nook and cranny of Cal's Memorial Stadium and another 24,000 perched on Tightwad Hill, the Bears and the Cardinals, both unbeaten, put on one of the greatest contests ever seen in the history of the Big Game. When it was all over, Cal had preserved its five year Wonder Team legacy of unbeaten seasons, and Stanford took itself to the Rose Bowl, only to be wiped out by another great team, the one led by Knute Rockne's fabled "Four Horsemen."
