Just as Army would schedule its big name opponents in the Polo Grounds or Yankee Stadium, so would Navy schedule its best rivalries in Baltimore, which is less than an hour west of Annapolis. And of course their very first game against Knute Rockne's Fighting Irish would certainly fall under the category of "best." One bonus that Baltimore fans could always count on was the splendid graphic design on the program covers, as seen in this example.
And yet...that depicted matchup of the Navy goat and the Notre Dame----Black Cat? Must have had something to do with the approaching Hallowe'en holiday.
