The Illini swept through the 1951 season with only a blip, that being a scoreless tie in Columbus against Ohio State. And when they got to Pasadena for the Rose Bowl, the fun continued, as the helpless Stanford Indians became the Pacific Coast Conference's sixth straight victim since the adoption of the Big Nine vs PCC format.
