Clark Shaugnessy took over the coaching job this year, and the results were electric. Introducing the T-formation for the first time on the Palo Alto campus, his Frankie Albert-led team went on to compile a perfect 10-0-0 record, capping it with a 21-13 win over powerful Nebraska in the Rose Bowl. An interesting sidebar to this team was its influence on the NFL. The Chicago Bears' coach George Halas, intrigued with the possibilities of the T-formation, adopted it for his NFL title matchup against the Washington Redskins. After the Monsters of the Midway managed to escape with a 73 to 0 win over the baffled Washingtonians, the inevitable death of the single wing within the ranks of professional football was not long in the making.
