For sheer drama, it was hard to top this Rose Bowl game. Not only were the Duke Blue Devils unbeaten going into the game, but they had yet to allow a point all year, a streak that was then extended all the way to the closing moments in Pasadena. But then a fourth string Trojan quarterback named Doyle Nave fired eight straight completions and a last minute touchdown pass for a 7-3 win, and it was a long, long train ride back to Durham for Wallace Wade's crestfallen crew.
